Bugatti Chiron Sport (2019)

After the purchase of the Bugatti brand by Volkswagen Group in 1998, they embarked on a mission to create the ultimate and incomparable performance vehicle. The Veyron 16.4 – denoted as such due to its monstrous 16-cylinder, quad-turbo engine – exceeded this brief and resulted in an all-time milestone for production cars, by achieving an average of 253.8 miles per hour at the Volkswagens own Ehra-Lessien test track in 2005.

Not only did the Veyron obliterate the longstanding and impressive record held by the McLaren F1, but it also presented with a highly luxurious interior and could be driven in unrivalled comfort, even in comparison to modern performance cars. This was an accomplishment that cannot be understated, and allowed the rebirth of Bugatti to be woven into history and the hearts and minds of enthusiasts globally. It is not hyperbole to state that the creation of the Veyron is part of the milestone achievements of mankind, when engineering seems to conquer the laws of physics for a fleeting moment, in the same manner as the Space Shuttle, the Hadron Collider or Concorde.

After several revisions and developments of the Veyron lineage, the next generation Bugatti emerged in 2016 with the Chiron moniker, after the legendary Monegasque racing driver, Louis Chiron. Utilising a further developed variant of the famed 8-litre W16 engine, the Chiron propelled Bugatti into the modern age with an aggressive yet elegant exterior, and a timeless interior with the conscious omission of screens, to allow the craftmanship and design to be at the forefront of the strengths of the Chiron for years to come.

The Chiron Sport was an evolution of the already immensely performant ‘standard’ Chiron. In 2018 it was unveiled with new lightened wheels and further utilisations of carbon fibre, as well as a more aggressive suspension calibration and torque vectoring programme. The Chiron Sport was the first of a lineage of variants to be positioned above the standard Chiron, and sold out by the time it was unveiled, despite its almost £400,000 increase over the initial car, and on paper, nominal 18 kg weight saving!

This example was supplied new to its sole keeper in June 2019. Optioned with meticulous attention to detail, this Chiron is unique in its configuration. In deviation to many Chiron's, this example features a fully painted exterior in Damson, a rich metallic purple, with highlights in Tangerine on the brake calipers and centre caps. The underside of the wing is also finished in Tangerine, exposed only in race mode or from behind, when the airbrake is active!

By special order, all of the exterior trim is finished in Gunpowder, rather than black. This is applied to the trademark horseshoe grille, front aero vanes, the signature curve when approaching the car from the side as well as the wheels; the rear sees the EB logo and light cluster also finished in Gunpowder. Looking at the car head on, the inner signature line that splits the cabin is finished in Tangerine, inviting a closer look inside.

Cohesively, this two tone theme continues into the car, with the velvety dark purple hue of Midnight contrasting the Tangerine seat inserts, drivers zone and door cards. The EB logo is embossed into the headrest and the stitching is inverse of the leather colourscheme. Notably all interior switchgear is anodised black at a cost of €45,000!

Despite Bugatti's very accommodating inclusions, this example still recieved options totalling €122k euros. Freshly serviced by Bugatti Manchester, and having covered only 1,400 kilometres from new, this example is available to view by appointment at our showrooms just outside of London.
